I think it is a Richards. I bought from my buddy just before he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and he was not getting a lot of facts straight at that point. It was not inletted for anything when I got it. My gunsmith...Bill Coprio did the stock and he did a great job.

You know I think this thread should almost be added to Fred's Sponsor thread. I mean it is basically a testament to his good work. And a pictorial of his fluted bolts

Got my "bling" just the other day. I can't wait to see what it looks like after Joel finishes the stock for me!!!
Now I have to get one to match my other custom stock. This could get spendy!!!

I just discovered this site a few days ago and love it. I purchased a tactical bolt handle from Tactical works a few weeks ago unaware of Fred and SSS. I received the bolt handle and have already put it on my Savage Model 16 and love it, however it has a very dull stainless finish. I noticed someone posted earlier in the thread about polishing a bolt handle to a mirror shine, how does one go about doing that? I am new to all of this and have never really been exposed to working with metal.

Can you buy a bolt body from SSS which is fluted and exchange it with your bolt and install the other parts from your original bolt? Like the bolt head, firing pin & spring and bolt handle etc.

Sandpaper,
Start with 400 and work down to 2000, then a polish with flitz, or other metal polish.
