Need to increase bolt travel in .223 Savage Model 11

I have a Savage Model 11 in .223. I need to increase the rearward bolt travel in order to be able to pick up cartridges from an aftermarket magazine. Can I accomplish this by installing a shorter front baffle, like this:

If you convert to the std bolt baffle it will increase your bolt throw significatly.Do you want to sell the extended one that came in your gun?

Thanks for the info, jonbearman and Gmac5. I was planning to keep the original in case I decide to convert the rifle back.
