Which mag box and follower?

Ok guys quick build question...
My current build is a 116 .300wm. Iam turning this rifle into a 7mm-08. Now I was told all I had to do in regards to the magazine was replace the magazine box and follower with a 30-06 mag box and follower. I was told they are a drop in fit and will have no problems whatsoever with the 7mm-08 cartridge. Before I order all my parts want to make sure this is correct.

In my foolings, the "mag" followers are no different than the standard long action followers. Ergo, changing from a 300WM to a 30-06, isn't changing; it's the same thing with newer parts.

It isn't like this is a thing that you HAVE to have to get to work every day. Don't change anything, see what happens. It is possible that the feed lips are different, but it's my story that the followers are all the same.

Yes, Just tweak the lips inward a touch.

The followers are NOT the same, just as the magazines are NOT the same. The magnum box has the shoulder bumps farther ahead than a standard box, and the followers have the notches moved ahead for that box.
The WSM's on the other hand, use a universal follower that will fit a WSM or a standard short action cartridge.

So if I wanted to replace versus "tweaking". What would I replace the mag box and follower with? A wsm box and follower or a 30-06 long action box and follower.... Guess I'm slightly confused

I would like to just have a drop into place box magazine and follower that will definitely feed the 7mm-08 in a long action.

You might loose a cheeseburger there DARK..... But, I have made the 30-06 mags work for a lot of cartridges.

Been a fool for much lesser things, and if he comes to collect on the debt; that means I get to take him to lunch. That would totally be worth the price of admission. :cool:

For what its worth, my long action conversion from 270 to 22-250 works fine with the existing internals on the mag. Feeds well with the smaller cartridge. I was afraid that the 22-250 with its smaller taper would not feed correctly, but it has so far. Blitzfike
