Shot my Bear Hunter 116 300 winmag today for the 1st time today, love the rifle, shoots awesome, but don't care for the factory muzzle brake. I was wondering if the Muscle Brake from Jim is an easy swap/replacement to the factory muzzle brake? The threading from reading online appears to be a 5/8 X 24 tpi, but just wanted to confirm. Has anyone tried swapping or adding Jim's Muscle brake on? Any luck with it?

5/8 x 24 is correct. I don't put muzzle brakes on my bolt guns so I don't know. Sorry

Should be pretty easy as long as the replacement brake has crush washers to ensure the brake can be centered on your barrel. It may not match the facotry barrel contour though and look kind of odd. Not sure what the brake measurments are or if the seller can turn it down to your barrel diameter.

Was the factory brake effective in taming the 300 winmag recoil

Are the muzzle brakes right hand thread or left hand thread? Reason I ask is that my SIG pistols all are left hand threaded barrels. I have one on my FCP-K and will have to remove it for F-class match or else really irritate the people on either side of me.

Check out this video of a 338WM Bear Hunter.
About 9 minutes in the guy shoots with the break on, then off. Pretty dramatic difference.
