hi guys i just bought a new savage 11 trophy hunter xp in 6.5 creedmoor. i was buying this gun for the caliber and wanted to re-barrel it to a heavy 26-28" tube. so i called jim today at northland to price a barrel and he told me since that the bolt release was on the trigger guard there are no after market stocks for this gun. have you guys had this problem to? is there a way to use a older centerfeed stock and modify it to work? this is my first savage with this new bolt release so any input will be great

thanks

I would call Kevin Rayhill at stockade stocks as he is a stock maker and Jim isnt.He can be reached at 1-308-432-5114.

There are stocks for this rifle. http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd456/txbdyguard/8F994AC6-52D4-42B3-99EC-E50525A9D04E-21785-00000D189686F0A7.jpg is a prime example of a rifle with the bolt release in the trigger guard. Stock is a choate.

So is that choate stock made for these new action designs or is it just a center feed stock with the correct screw spacing?

aside from stockade and choate already mentioned above, I believe McMillan will make one for you if you're willing to wait for it. there are fewer pre-made aftermarket options for the trigger-guard bolt release savages, but they aren't non-existent.

It's made for it only had to sand out the trigger guard.
