Quick question

I have a new Stevens 200 in 243.I have a chance to buy the bottom metal and clip from a Savage FCP 308 both with 4.4 inch spacing.Can I without much trouble convert the original Stevens stock to accept the bottom metal from the Savage.
This stock will be replaced so I don`t mind experimenting.

It can be done as long as the bottom metal is from a bolt release on the side rifle
