I had a little trouble finding visual info. On bullet performance on deer out of the .260 Remington. So I thought I would post some pics and give a brief account of my hunt yesterday in which I was fortunate enough to harvest a mature doe. The shot was at 199 yds with a HSM 130 gr. VLD hunting bullet. The deer was slightly quartering away and downhill from my position, which was prone on a bipod. The bullet entered the rear side of her left rib cage and exited tight to the rear of the scapula of her right shoulder. At the shot she jumped into the air and took off on a sprint up the hill on an angle toward us through the field. She made it approximately 40-50 yards before expiring. The blood trail was decent as far as rifle shots go, through a cut field, with no snow.

I should have taken some pics of the internal organs as well, but didn't think about it at the time. Next time I will. Overall I'm pleased with the performance of the bullet. I was a little surprised that she made it as far as she did, but not all deer are created equal.

When Bergers come apart they do at the right place....inside! Glad you got your deer.

Thats why I shoot a Berger right there! Plenty of penetration and extreme tissue and internal damage. I'm surprised she took a step as well.
