Just bought my first Axis, but own other Savage rifles. I purchased a 20 Practical barrel from Jim Briggs to swap out the 223 barrel. WOW, if it ain't one thing it's another with this gun. I would like to convert it to a single shot in a bench rest stock. Would greatly appreciate your comments.

You'll have to build the stock yourself.
The good part is it's been covered pretty good on here.
Happy reading.

Hey, fat chance that will happen, I'm not that type of a craftsman. Nor do I have the equipment. I can change the barrel....but make a stock!

stiffening the fore-end is probably what 30 06 means--wanna make sure you have a free-float barrel. Trigger mod too. Both can be done very easily and cheaply--details are available here.

Ron Smith said he wanted a benchrest stock, the only way I know to get one is to build it.
There's some good post on here from members that have made there own.

Ah yes--you are right. The Axis I think is worth customizing to a point--but if ya want a bench rest match gun--I'd look elsewhere. so sorry.
