got an idea, may sound stupid to some but i was thinking that the boyds stocks dont come with pillars correct? if the answer is yes then i should be able to make a oversized pillar to relocate the hole in the stock then do my bedding work and so on. northlander, sharpshooter, anyone else with boyds savage experience what do you think?

should work

I've seen it done.

You should be able to make it work.

Ive done it on a Russo stock and it worked great, you need about a 1/2" pillar or bigger to make it work.

I converted a Bell & Carlson SA stock several years ago before center feed stocks were available. I filled the front stock hole with bondo. Used some touch-up paint. Then drilled a new front hole, installed pillars and bedded the action. Take your time drilling though the metal frame inside the Bell & Carlson stock, or the heat buildup from the drill bit will warp the stock. You should be able to do the same with a wood stock. I would use a wood plug to fill the old hole and drill a new hole. But today, I would just order a laminated CF stock from SSS or a composite CF stock from Stockade Gunstock. But it would make a fun winter project if you've found a cheap Boyd's SF stock. LOL.

Look at the Boyds website and it will show what is in stock, if they don't have what you want check with Stockys. If it is not in stock at Boyds I don't order it but that is just me, I don't like to wait on things.

The last stock I ordered from Stockys I got in 2 days and I had a tracking number within 3 hours after I ordered it, the last one I ordered from Boyds took about a week to get here.

Hard to go wrong either way, both Boyd's and Stockys are A+ folks to deal with.
