Will the barrel from a Rem 700 "fit"...ie: can it be wrenched onto a Savage? I don't know what makes me think this is so.....but I'm just asking.

Thanks.

Too small in diameter I think 1 inch and more importantly 16 tpi rather than the needed 20 tpi. I have seen them cut off, rechambered and threaded for savage.

No, the 700 has a different thread pitch. Don't remember if the 700 is 16 or 18 tpi, but it's different from the Savage large and small shank which are both 20 tpi.

Ok.....I knew it was sumpin. It's not gonna be worth the $$$ to do all of that.

Thanks.

Both the Remington 700 and the Savage Small Shank have the same size shank. The biggest difference is the 16 thread pitch on the Remington and the 20 pitch on the Savages. You may already know this but here at NSS we do offer the Rem/Age interchangable barrel system with the Remington threaded (Savage style) barrel nut.
