340-e .222 rem

i am getting one of the coast to coast rifles which is the 340 e savage in a 222 remington and was wondering if anyone on here has the same rifle or experience with one.

Yea, I have a 340-c .222 that was 1964 year model , I put a new scope mount, scope and a new stock from Boyds on it, this rifle should be good for another
50 years now...It shoots the same groups as my stock savage 11 .223.

you can get a stock for them? or did you have to customize it a bunch? my biggest thing with this gun is that we are going to be lapping the boar them treating it with the dyna boar coat system to see if it will shoot as good as it once did. can you rebarrel these fairly easy?

by buddy use to shoot tacks at 100 yards and one hole groups with it, shooting 50 grain barnes vermin a tors tell they discontinued them and now they are back and we have tried berger, speer and many others with different powders to try to get it to work and nothing.

just picked up a 340 e in 223 today. this one is in way better shape and feels better than the 222. i have some work to do on the 222, but am thinking about trying to get this 222 that is at the pawn shop and dump the one i have

I just traded for a 340D in .222. How much work is the Boyd's stock to fit? Also - what side mount do you guys use? Looks like B-Square makes a nice one.

Not pretty, but I found an original savage stamped metal mount and an older weaver K scope to stay in the dated look on the one I had.

Yea, B-square is alot nicer looking scope mount then
the original mount and the boyds stock will take alittle
file work for the mag fit and then a little sanding and a good finish.

I think I'll get the B-Square and the Boyd's stock. The original stock rides up on the scope mount holes and I'm reluctant to relieve that wood if I don't have to. Can stash it away and restock. That work I can do. I struggle with a blank barrel channel but outside of the wood and some fitting I can do. I once did a classical hand rubbed BLO on. Fajen stock that took weeks to finish but it looked o darn good afterward. Anyway thanks for the help and I'll get this bugger to the range tomorrow with iron sights anyway!
