I talked to a guy with a new savage bolt gun for sale that I could find on their web site.
He called it a model 16???

It is a wood monte carlo stock, all stainless fluted barrel, with no iron sites. in 204, 223, and 243.

He said the bolt release is on the bottom and not on the right side like the new weather warrior I saw in the store the other day. Why is this?

Is this a good gun?
What can you tell me about them?

thanks

Is this the firearm you're talking about? Well, I tried to post a link, but I wasn't aloud. I think you're looking at a 12 Varminter.

some one ordered a bunch with wood instead of plastic. if your order enough they will build what you want.

They told me at the store that it is not a varmint barrel. And it does (may) come in other calibers.
They had no further details and savage is closed for the holidays.

There is no gun shop in my town. This is a mail order and I have not seen the gun.

I was set to buy a weather warrior till I heard about this.

How about the different style of bolt release?

bolt release is the new improved one coming on all the new guns.

Bolt release down below is the new improved way?

I assume so not to confuse with the saftey?

It looks cleaner for one thing. The normal one has never bothered me, but Savage has really been working on making the 110 series more stylish.

Does anyone have pics of the new bolt release. I want to purchase a 10fp but don't know which version would be delivered. This could be a problem with aftermarket stocks because I doubt anyone is setup to inlet the new actions (if there is much of a difference).

I bought my 110 in the summer. I think I have the new bolt release, though. Is this possible? What does the old release look like/where is it located?

# finger Jack,
The old bolt release is on the right side of the action back near the bolt handle.

Thanks. I was lucky to get the new release, I guess.

Not sure the new release is lucky.

I have not got one in hand. I have seen the release and it appears to be built into the Accu-stock and those I trust think it is an absolute nightmare 1. the release in the stock 2. putting on oversized recoil lugs.

Stylish: Maybe- for me, Savage and application are synonomous. I won't be buying new actions personally.

I wish Savage would just man up and get rid of using the sear as a bolt stop. Just stick a mauser style stop on the lefthand side. It looks cooler anyhow. ;D
