Hey everyone. This year I have decided to use my 1946 Savage 99 in 300 Savage for my blacktail deer hunting, in very tight bush. I am going to use a 150 grain bullet as it shoots best from my gun. But, I can't decide which bullet would work best at close range. So I am hoping someone out there has had good experience with 150 grain bullets that they can give some good suggestions. Thanks for your time !

I would suggest a bullet with a flat base, since the 300 savage has a short neck for bullet tension/holding.
150 grn Hornady interlocks would be such an item.
Then again, if you can, try several brands/bullets to see which shoots best.
Good luck

I agree with the flat base, as the 300 Savage is a 300 yard gun usually at most, so the benifits of the boattail would be waisted. I have had some suggestions to use a partitian type bullet, which to date I have never used. Anyone have any takes on that type of bullet for performance on, say 100 yard shots ?

150 Sierra Game King. Boat tail or not the game king is a fantastic bullet.
