First, I'd like recommendation from users of LRP in 260 Rem. With 8" twist, I assume that you would most likely use 140gr bullets. Do you find the short neck that restricting? Is 260 Rem really giving anything to the 6.5 super LR? Secondly, if your 260 Rem barrel is shot out, would your rebarrel, or turn barrel and rechamber to 6.5 super LR?
What are the pros and cons of 260 Rem vs 6.5 super LR? Let's keep it practical, and not minute factors. I'm more into the KISS principle.

I have no experience with the 6.5 Super LR, but my custom 30" Savage 6.5CM is highly capable out to 1 mile at a modest 2720 FPS. I'm very eager to know about this 6.5 Super LR capabilities, but where do you get the brass? Atleast the .260 and 6.5CM are already out there...

If I'm not mistaken, you can simply neck down 260 brass.

Being that I am an official 6.5 nut, built a bunch of rifles over the last 25+ years, I would opt for the the 6.5x284 with a long tube, buy excellent quality brass for it. The 6.5x55 swede, built on a modern action, w/modern custom barrel will do about anything the 6.5lr will, less pressure, and **** accurate to 1000yds. I have a older 110, I trued and timed myself, rifle basix trigger, trued barrel nut and doublass SS xxrated full bulld, 26" 1-8 twist that is a hummer in the old 6.5x55, running 120gr's at 2990 fps, chronoed, no pressure signs. This load shoots in the low .3's at 100 and will nearly do that well at 200yds, have taken a ton of chucks andyotes with it, and several deer out to 500 yds.Tons of good quality brass, that last a long time, nearly twice the barrel life of a .260.
