i have 2 -25.06s that seems to like 57grain rl22 with 100 grain bullet, the other i'm still working on, tried the rl22, h4350, getting about a inch- inch and quarter with imr 4831 52grain. i saw someone post here about using rl19, i'll have to buy a pound how many grains do you use with yours with a 100 grain bullet? i realize what works in yours may not work in mine, just looking for suggestions.:

Both of my 25-06 rifles do much better with RL22 with any bullet weight above 85gr. IMR4350 would be my next choice for the 100gr loads. If you have access to the sierra volume 5 manual check it over. All bullet weights list a hunting load and an accuracy load. The 25-06 lists RL22 more than once as being the same.

Hybrid 100v works very well in 25-06 loads for 80gr to 117gr bullets, and gets me the most FPS with the least amount of pressure signs, 75gr Vmax's and 70gr Blitzkings RL17 is where it's at.

RL22 is the best powder I've tried. I would recommend maybe trying some different bullets or primers. Primers are probably the cheapest component and I have had good luck with CCI BR2s and Fed 210M. Sometimes it takes quite a few bullets to find the one that really hums but I think it's hard to beat RL22 in the 25-06. my hunting favorite is the 110 accubond. Really smacks em.

I would also give imr4064 a look as well.

thanks guys i'll give the rl22 another shot at it with the federal 210 primers, i just liked the way the rl15 worked in my 308 just wasn't sure if the rl19 was small grainlier like the r15 and how it burned in comparison. i just somebody on here may have tried it, but i 'll give the rl22 another chance at it

Mine does real well with 51.2 of RL-19 with the 100gr Noslers. RL-19 is coarser grained than the 15 is. Nosler bullets are pretty much all I use.

It does even better with the 85gr Varmint BT's & a little 4350. IMR that is... (52.9gr)

The 25.06 I have is insanely accurate. Almost to the point to where it's kinda boring to shoot. I already know it's going to punch one hole no matter how many rounds I fire.
Remarkable rifle.

Hey fgw_in_fla, seeing as your 25-06 is boring to shoot...I've got a takeoff .270 barrel I'd trade you for it. Maybe working up some loads for it will keep you busy and won't be so boring. Wink

Ya know, that's a most generous offer but...
I already did the .270 thing until IT got boring, too. It lived on 55.6 of 4831 with the 130gr Noslers. I had a lot of fun with that rifle. Now if you have something I haven't played with yet, maybe we can talk turkey.... pun intended for today only.
Have a great Thanksgiving y'all...

I have a new Model 111 in 25/06 and have only shot 2 groups. Using 56 grains of H4831 behind the Hornady 100 grain Spire Point it shot 3 into 5/8 inch. The other group was a Sierra 100 grain Pro Hunter and 56 grains of H4831SC. This went into 7/8 inch. What was the strange part was that the H4831 produced about 150 FPS more velocity than the SC.

Probly has something to do with load density.

I have had great luck with both imr 4350 & 4831. They are a pain to load compared to the fine grained powders, but do an excellent, consistent job for me and my 25-06.
