I have read that the 110 Tactical was once made in .30-06. I have a 110 in .30-06 that I would like to upgrade the barrel on, and if possible would like to stick with a factory piece. Thanks in advance for the help.

I forgot to ask the most important question...where can these barrels be found?

That extra 10grains of powder the 30-06 has over the 308 really gives you a lot of flexibility.

First off,why would you want a stock barrel that shoots maybe ok to lousy when you can buy a chrome moly from jim briggs for just a little more than you would pay for a new savage barrel.Call jim at 1-763-682-4296. Get the criterion if you can or even a er shaw barrel is better than stock. You dont want a savage barrel.

I agree aftermarket would be the better choice

I never liked it when people bash the OE barrels. My 116 WW in 30-06 get 1/2 MOA. That's what hand loading does. It finds what your gun really likes.

I agree...dont bash the factory heavies...I've had 3 Savage 110FPs now in 300WM-.308-.223 all were extremely accurate...the current .308 will shoot 1/2" 5 round groups at 200yds...I think thats .25MOA if my math is right...HAND LOADING will find the node in any barrel and bring out its potential...however some do have more potential that others...

Does anyone here even own a borescope ,even know what one looks like , ever see a factory barrel compared to a quality barrel ? Lets all keep it real
No brag , just fact

I don't care what the bore looks like. All that matters is how close together the holes in the paper are.

Yup...had one for years...and yes a factory barrel typicaly does have a rougher bore than say a custom barrel maker...it boils down to how many passes a tool can make down a barrel to be as profitable as possible and make as many "quality barrels" as it can before it becomes unserviceable...custom barrel makers use far less passes down those bores for each tool and do produce better barrels but at the same time must pass this tooling cost on to the consumer...

Lapping can also make all the difference in the world...all my factory barrels have been hand lapped...the 308 is an honest .25moa shooter with handloads and .5 or a little under with FGMM and .75 with just about anything else I put thru her...not braggin...just fact...

I haven't looked into the bore of this old 110FP... not too concerned as to what it looks like, really... ;)

The 112 target style rifle that was the predecessor to the 112BVSS could be had in .30-06 also.

out of the box accuracy is Savages claim to fame
floating bolt head , properly headspaced chambers, ect,...........
is it all hype or no ?
I bought a 300.00 pawn shop 110 as a truck gun
after sighting it in - 4 consecutive .5 groups towards center of target with factory loads
I figured I got lucky & got a "good one"
reloads brought me cloverleafs
so I bought another Savage
same results
then another
repeat
I starting looking at my "custom" HIGH $ rifles in a whole new way
I guess I just got lucky -but every Savage barrel I own
shoots .5 & better except one
it shoots 1' moa @ 100
but from 200 on out .5 or better
Im sure custom barrels have to be better
but I wouldnt be able to tell
because up until I bought a CHEAP Savage
the best I could shoot was 1' moa @ 100 & 2-3 moa on out there
yep
I'm happy as a pig in slop with me Savvy's
they shoot way better than I can

I thought that's what drew people to Savage. That and price.

My 110 30-06 shoots <1 MOA all day long from rest with my Nikon Monarch, and that's a standard stock 22" sporting barrel.

I am happy with that.

do you reload ? and if you do - have you tried to do a ladder test ?
shooting 3 rounds of each charge weight to see what
YOUR
barrel likes
thats what brought mine from 1' moa to cloverleaf's
1' moa is still plenty good for hunting
good shooting
