New To Me Savage 111

Hello and thank you in advance for any help. I just purchased a "new" 111 in 30-06 at a gun show. I say "new" because it had never been fired and still in the box, but the vendor said it was a few model years old. The serial number is F501550. There is no magazine or drop plate. No sites, but tapped for scope mounts. Can someone help me out with more information on this rifle? What is the exact model name? Year? I assume no acu-trigger. Thanks so much.

That rifle is more than a few years old...it was made sometime in 1996. It s pre-accutrigger and has a blind magazine. It also has a flat top rear receiver.

Thanks for the feedback. just spent 30 minutes on hold to Savage customer service and they couldnt find serial number. Odd?

It is from before the current owner/management.

Just saw what you meant by "flat top" rear receiver. It does. Is that going to make finding scope mounts more difficult?

Not too bad to find. Midway has plenty of options for a flat back.
