I have been trying to get good load for 22-250 ai using 75 amax. Have been using IMR4350, can't get them to shoot consistant. Barrel is shilen 8 twist 26" full bull. Have been around 36.5 to 37.5 grains, and .015 off the lands. Have heard of some pushing them harder, but not sure. Haven't gotten any pressure signs yet. Was also thinking about 68 or 75 bthp if these won't shoot.

I use RL22 in mine with the 75 grain Amax with good results.

Had some time today to mess with it. Dropped a couple tenths off the powder and things look better. Last group was a nice cloverleaf @ 100 so its getting close. Think a guy has to have a lb of every powder to play with lol.

i have a few strings loaded up rite now with reloader 22 at different lengths see what happens, have tried some of the 80 grain a max's but with no luck. think i am running about 41.7 grains

I use 40.5g of RL22 with the 75gr a-max. I have found that this combo will shoot about the same group size @ 200 as it does at 100. Not sure if it is me or the load I am using.

Mine is a 1-14 twist, but there is a good discussion on a 1-8 here:

I have used Hybrid 100 for a few different calibers including 22-250 AI, I was looking at my notes and I used a full case of it with the 75 AMAX'S, it got me 3400 FPS + with a good grouping, and with a 14 twist to boot.

Tagent's or Secant's or Conical, it does make a differance, but I would hazard a guess that you'er success is somewhat related to climate/altitude?

I'm working with a .22-250AI with a 1-7 Twist Shilen Select. Focus was on 90 gr Berger VLDs. Discovered that it really likes the slow powders. RL22 has proven it's place on the shelve. "Back to Back" 5 shot groups (.245). Tried the 80 gr A Max, but after measuring the Ogive to Base on several, I discovered some ugly results.

Looks like I may have to pick some RL22 up next time I get to town. I am getting good results w/IMR 4350, but keep thinking it could get a little better. If it doesn't help I can always run it through my 25-06.

i am thinking i need away from these hornady's. cheap yes, but a pain to get consistent results from soo far. reloader 22 has a presence on my shelf

play with sierra's, i always have good luck with them

what sierras are you shooting?

the reason i am having a pain with the hornady's is because yesterday i went out and shot 4- 3 shot groups. every group the third shot went 1.5" low and right, but the first two bullets were great at 200 yards. group one =.5" group 2=.25" group 3=.125" group 4=.5" i was trying 43-43.5 grains of re loader 22 over federal lrm primers. i will now be trying 43.0 grains of reloader 22 with br-2 primers with the 75 amax again, but varying different seating depths. i dont know what would cause consistent low right flyer, but cant figure it out.

Calib, are you getting different seating depths in regard to the bullet ogive. Mine prefers a slight jam into the lands but I do not run that much powder if I remember right. Sometimes the polymer tipped bullets seat off the tip instead of the bullets ogive. Another thing, this is a compressed load right? If so I suspect that the bullet could be walking its way out during the wait. Sounds like a seating depth issue to me for sure.

have any of you guys used 4831 or reloader 19?

Believe I have used 4831, but will have to look through my old notes to find it....

running the 75 amax at around 3300 with 39.9grains of 4350 about 10 thousands off the lands shooting a tight one hole group

Played with QuickLoad a bit and IMR 7828 SSC fits nicely also. Just another to try.
