Why is that? What, in your opinion are the advantages of the saum?

Less powder for like velocities which equates to longer barrel life and reduced recoil, USAMU shoots the 7mm RSAUM at present(says something?) and shorter COAL for magazine feeding to name a few. JMHO mind you!

Glad to hear it, I've had great luck with the Criterions so far. Have you tried ant 175/180gr bulletsthrough it?

My old load was with 175SMKs, but I've switched to Berger 168 grainers. The farthest thing I've hit so far is a 12" target at 1,650 yards.

We are fortunate enough to have a range called Thunder Valley Precision in my area. He has steel targets out to a mile. I've hit the mile with a 7mmRM as well, but it was a stock Savage BVSS barrel and 175 SMKs. A 7mm with a 9 twist barrel will do all you need it to. As mentioned, the SAUM is an interesting cartridge as well.
