I had some Remington 165Gr Core Lokt left over from my other 30-06 and used it in my Savage,,,,,didnt group so good. So I bought some Hornady Superformance 165 Gr. They did a lot better job.
What do you use for hunting deer and hogs?

Almost everyone on this forum do not shoot factory stuff.

I can't say with certainty about hunting but, I see an awful lot of guys at the range shooting Hornady ammo with the '06 as well as other bigger caliber guns.
With factory ammo I would suggest trying different brands & weights until you find what the gun like to shoot. You may just get lucky & find out Federal 165's of something works pretty good for you.
I've had excellent results with Federal Vital-Shok with a 165gr Nosler BT in it. The bad news is they're $45 a box of 20 rounds.
Try a few brands. If the results are not satisfactory for you, you may have to look toward premium ammo. The stuff that runs around $35 to $40 a box and up.
Good luck in your search.
