Hey Guys,

I purchased an older model 12 FLVSS that has a black reciever, 26" SS barrel and is pre-accutrigger. The Savage web site shows the accutrigger model has a 1:9 twist. Does the older models also have the 1:9 twist? Is there anything different about ones with the black reciever?

Thanks,
Mike

.223? It should be 1:9, thats about all Savage has used in the .223 for quite a few years now. Look it up by serial number on Savages web site under their parts section, it may tell you for sure.

Or you could just use the cleaning rod method to check it.

You will most likely have to measure the twist to get it correct. From what I understand, when Savage was going through their tough times they were putting any combination of pieces together to get a rifle out of the door.

I checked the Savage site and it did not have information in the parts area about the twist rate. I did see they put a $1000.00 price tag on a new SS reciever, like someone would pay that!
I used a cleaning rod and it appears to be a 1:9 twist.

Thanks to everyone for your input!
