Stevens Model 62 Help

I have a model 62 rifle which is about the same as a Savage model 64 that jams about 2 out of 10 shots. I have disassembled and cleaned the rifle and the problem persists. Also it is missing the rear sight elevator. Sure would appreciate any info on these problems in particular the frustrating jam problem.

What ammo are you using? Have you tried CCI or Federal? I've found that most auto 22s are kinda picky and will jam like you describe with certain ammo. A friend of mine had that problem with a Marlin model 60, But I shoots CCI and Federal without any problems. Remington bulk ammo is the absolute worst.

I have only tried Remington but have a lot of Federals which I will try.
