I think I'm going to try this thing I seen on YouTube where you use a toilet paper roll taped to your eye bell and your camera taped to the other end and it records through the scope. Should be neat if it works ;-)

Same principle I used to hook up a 35mm camera to a telescope to photograph a solar eclipse. I didn't have an adapter so, i made one out of a toilet paper cardboard kaplooie tube.

Worked great. No light leaks & the pics came out fabulous.

That was back in 1967 or 68 if I recall correctly.

Wow.... i didn't think I could remember stuff that far back,

I have a Bushnell Elite 3x9x40 on my new Savage Classic and the scope is as clear as my old Leapold VXIII except around the edges. I would highly recommend the Bushnell.

I put a Vortex Viper 3-9x40 on my 30-06 a few years ago and love it. This time around I wanted something with a little more magnification on the 7mm-08 and there was nothing to fit the bill in the Viper line so I went with a Bushnell Elite 4-16x40. I haven't tried it yet but I love the glass as much as the viper and the price is amazing. I ended up getting it for around $360 with shipping and I just sent in for the $75 rebate so I'll end up at $285.

I had never heard of the website before but there were a couple guys on here talking about it so I checked it out, it's www.fedtacticaldirect.com They don't carry every scope on the market but their prices are just about unbeatable on what they do have. Excellent service also, I ordered on a Thursday evening, Friday I had a tracking number and the scope was in my mailbox on Monday.

I was just on that site checking some prices, the Elite in 3-9x40 is about $215 with a multi-X reticle or $231 for the firefly reticle. Elite 3-9x50 multi-X is $269 or $284 for the firefly. Add about $20 for shipping and insurance to those prices but if you buy before the end of the month you get the $75 rebate. The Elites that have the rebate all have a part number that starts with "E", some of the other models have lesser or no rebates. Here is a link to the page that has all of those models on it: http://www.fedtacticaldirect.com/Scopes_c_1351-13-3.html

I ended up getting my leupold vx-II 3x9 for about $220 by carefully stalking amazon about 2 years ago.

RogerH;

If you are not opposed to a fixed power scope I really like the Weaver K4 & K6.

Or you could get the Burris E1 in 3-9x50 from Midway for $199 and a $50 rebate from Burris. Net cost to you $149 I just ordered a second one and they did not charge for shipping or fees but I cant get the rebate again. (one per customer) I have one that I paid much more for and they are awesome.(list is $299) The etched ballistic recticle has windage marks in it and kinda floats in the center. It doesn't go edge to edge leaving that area clear for peripheral viewing and I like it a lot. I like the finger adjustable semi target turrets too. They are knurled with positive audible clicks that you can feel and this thing passed the box test with flying colors. The adjustments on mine were exact and I went 3 times around the box with precision, though I did break it in before installation. Talk about bright and clear, to say I am very impressed with this scope is an understatement. wish I could afford a couple of more right now.
