I put a grind to fit Kick-eez Sorbothane recoil pad on my .270 and it is the best pad I ever used, but also the most expensive.

Those who have used KICK-EEZ pads did you add the red pad too or just the pad alone? Was thinking one of the red pads would give it kind of unique appearance. But wonder if it would just create a problem loosening down the road. The 7mm rm I just got came without a pad or plate for that matter so I thought I'd give them a try. Don't mind a 30-30 or 7.62x54r without a pad but that big 7 really oughta have one.

You should get the magnum KICK-EEZ pads

Ordered the magnum KICK-EEZ pad today. Wasn't real excited about a grind to fit. But hopefully if I take my time it will fit/look and function as good or better then the prefits. I did get a set of the inserts for the slip ons. What I meant before was using one of those to make a redline between the stock and the pad. No clue how it will look or work but wanted to give it a try. Don't really have anything laying around that fit. If not ain't out much for the insert.

I think that Limbsavers recoil pads are much better than any other I have tried.

I have ~~ 100 hard kicking rifles.

Among the worst are 338 Win Mag 250 gr at 2645 fps from a 9.25 pound rifle including scope.
With a large grind to fit Limbsaver than I have not ground, there is no pain at all. It is like a .223, I can shoot it all day.

Fitted the Kick-Eez today. Still a little shaping to do but its close. Did over sand a bit in one spot but its not horrible. Hope it lasts better then the one you have Clark. The LimbSaver does seem like its better for recoil relief. But I'd read so many complaints about the short life/sticky to the touch ect... thought I'd give the Kick-Eez a try. Will probably get out and shoot a few rounds tomorrow afternoon. Not expecting to shoot all day but will at least get a feel for the rifle. Decide if it should get bedded or just leave it go as is. One thing I was not impressed with was the weight of the Kick-Eez Magnum pad. Its a little better after fitting but still adds substantial amount of weight to the rifle. Was almost wishing I'd just picked up a Winchester waffled style pad instead.
