Shooting a Savage 243 9.25 twist factory barrel.

I have plenty of Varget, RE15, and IMR 4350, just need the load for the best results.

41.8g varget was best for mine cci br2's and winnie brass don't recall the OAL though

I believe 42g is max so work up to this..blah, blah, blah

Two different barrels of mine like 4064 with medimum loads, 30.8-31.5.

Yes, I have heard everything but Varget, when it was hard to get, I ended up with about 25lbs of it, now trying to figure out a use.

I do use it mainly for my 308 loads!

My best accuracy load with 70 grain ballistic tip is IMR 4064 too

43.5gr RL 15 works well for me. I do believe this is a max load.

I just came from the range about two hours ago!

My VLP 243 with a five shot group with 70gr Nossler Ballistic Tips, I believe 40.0gr of Varget, CCI primers, and .010 off the lands is the one.

I also have a good load for 107SMK's if interested. IMR4350 39.5grns of powder, cci primer, bullet set on the lands 0.000, you might try some .010 off the lands. This load will shoot the same group as above, all from a "out of the box" Savage VLP 243, 9.25 twist barrel!

Very Nice!!!! just goes to show rifles are different......41.8g was great in my 22" sporter. Obviously your longer, heavier barrel prefers a bit less.

Love those VLP stocks too!!!

Just to show everyone how much powder makes a difference, here are my groups from today, I just lucked up on the 70NBT @ 40.0grns. Every bullet was loaded the same except for the powder charge. I have pictures of 55gr NBT's and I am very close, but I will have to adjust the charges in .10, but I have it close.

COAL has just as much effect on accuracy as does the powder charge. Again, all bullets were loaded .010 off the lands.

55gr NBT targets, again, I am close but will work on a few between 43.2 to 43.8grns.

I just checked my 55gr nosler data tonight. 43gr varget, cci BR primer and loaded length of 2.600", my brothers stevens prefers 42.5gr of powder. This is a very good load for close to medium range coyotes.

I thought Varget was " the powder " until I got my Steven's 243. I've tried every recipe, well all I'm going to try, and the best I can get out of it is 1.00 @ 100. My other 243 and 223 love the stuff !! Don't make sense to me, never heard of a small cal. not liking it. BTW as good as that savage look's it ought to shoot everything. Maybe one of these day's.

I use 41.0gr varget for the 70gr ballistic tip. Varget is listed as the most accurate powder for this bullet/cartridge in the nosler manual. All my loads from 40 - 42 gr were under an inch, seated .080" off the lands.

for the 55gr ballistic tips, I use H414, 51.0gr.

Another one for the Varget, BR2 combo, but with a 75 Vmax. 10 shots @ 100. Sorry, not one of my Savages though, my 700 VLS.
