I'm from the next town south of Melb. A little place called Palm Bay.

As far as the 7 - 08, I had doubt at first but I really like the caliber. Light recoil, accurate, not a great bullet selection but good enough. All the powders it uses I have on hand.
One of the range officers where I shoot mentioned that there's not many factory types of ammo for it. Limited selection...

Find yourself a barrel & have a go at it.

Is the case just about the size of a .308 ??

It's exactly the same size as a .308 with a slightly smaller hole in the end.

.308 / 30 cal is 7.62mm / .308"

7mm -08 is 7mm / .284"

I thought they were very close... I picked some up at the range one day thinking they were .308....Glad I looked good at them when I got home and seen the stamp did not have .308 on them !

Did you get your barrel local or order it in?

I got it used off r\the classifieds here. I've got some pretty good deals here.

The only thing that would have made it better if it was a matte black barrel. It's shiny blued but it seems to blend in.

Keep an eye on the classifieds & you gotta move fast. The good stuff doesn't stick around long.

You know what works for me..... I wear my shooting ear protection around the house. I can now come home with a new toy & she doesn't squalk.

Drop me a line here or a PM. I check them many times per day. Our range is open from Thu to Mon. Closed on Tue & Wed. I got an extra rifle. I'm about 15 minutes from the coast / beach where the EXPENSIVE Hilton is...
The range is in Sebastian - about 15 mins. south right off 95.
