I built a 6.5x55 off of a 30-06 savage action and am having some extraction problems. Not near hot loads at all, as you can pull the case out with a fingernail, but it will not eject. Is there a different bolt face between 30-06 and 6.5? I'm using Lapua brass which is .480 vs .4728('06 size. according to the resesearch i did), is this enought that I need to change or modify the bolt face?

Just wondering as I am building another for hunting and wondering if I should stick with North American brass that fits the 30-06 size(such as the win and fed brass i have)? for the target rifle I'll make it a single shot, but would like the hunting rifle to be a little more versatile. thanks guys.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can remedy this? Does savage make a bolt face that will fit the dimensions of the "European" 6.5?

Thanks guys.

Change out all the ejector and extractor parts with the upgrade kit from Sharpshooter Supply. Every long action I've converted needed to be changed. Short actions, not an issue.

Unfortunately SSS will not ship to Canada.

I have rebarreled several 110's, older stagger feeds and new ones, no issues whatsoever with Lapua, REm. or Win brass in the 6.5x55, which is my all time favorite round.

Should have to change brass. Check the extractor and be sure it has a nice crisp edges and isn't rounded over or worn too much. Also putting in a larger ball under the exttractor may help also.

Just a couple of thoughts.
