are there any diys out there to expedite or maybe even exceed what normal cycling of the action over time will do?

Oil it up and work the bolt while watching a sit com. Then clean and oil the bolt and receiver.

Thats all I did with my second FV, seems smoother than the FV I used polish on.

Took less time than using polish as I didn't have to completely dismantle the bolt to make sure all the polish was cleaned out.

There are some people out there who have used moto tools and drills on their bolts and receivers, all I can say to that is: if the guns that freaking bad send it back.
