My long awaited .223 LRPV came in and I wasted no time getting to the Range.
I was very pleased with how it shot but it drops some of the empties as they clear the chamber around 5 of 6. This is not a big problem
but being a new gun bothers me a bit.
I've read that this could be the extractor Detent Ball and Spring...thoughts ?

Could be, or could be gunk in the ejector. If you can disassemble your bolt head (inside a plastic bag so you don't lose anything) and clean everything, it might help. If not, I'd then try the larger (9/64" or .140") extractor ball. (Available at Fastenal for very little money.)

Wow thanks drybean but I can't put you through that kind of trouble for a little bearing
but thanks, very kind.

Both my savage 10 actions did the same thing. I took the extractor, spring and detent ball out. Brushed, polished with sandpaper and lubed the railway that the extractor rides in and havnt had a problem since. The extractor was hanging up and causing the malfunctions.

Thanks hafejd30 I'll give that a go.

Put the end of the bolt in a bag before you remove the extractor or the detent ball underneath will get ejected by the spring and get lost.
