View Full Version : Mark I/II/93R: BSEV and mounting a bipod

Hi, I'm a new BSEV owner. Anyone have any experience putting a bipod on one of these? Mine came without a swivel stud, and I'm a little hesitant to disassemble it as it is just came to me straight from the gunsmith. I don't want to have a less accurate rifle when I'm done. If I disassemble this to drill it myself (I am a decent woodworker, but know little about the fine art of gunsmithing beyond normal cleaning and field stripping) can I get it back together shooting as well as when I pulled it apart? Does anyone have a better suggestions that doesn't involve disassembly? I am willing to mount a lower rail too and use an atlas bipod, as I love the one on my XCR.

Not to be ungrateful, but I don't have a stud. That is what the first part of my post states.

Oh sorry. Taking the stock off won't hurt it just torque it back down to the right specs.

One last question, does anyone know if I significantly risk the glass bedding job that was done by disassembling?

I received today from Boyds Gunstocks this Channel Forest Laminate Stock. I took it out of the box, and was very pleased that it fit perfectly in every way. All I had to do was simply drill a hole for the holdown screw for the Bipod. I have not yet shot the rifle with this stock. I will tomorrow and will follow up with any comments for anyone interested.

Otherwise, definitely cool looking.

And I didn't know Savage made a bolt action rimfire rifle. Come to think of it, I didn't know they made a rimfire. Maybe I need to look at the catalog a little further.... perhaps get out more.

Wow two very nice looking rifles. How do you like the feel of them...? I have the Camo stock and if you don't mind I will post a picture in my reply.

I love them. They work on the bipods, bags, and freehand very well. I have a Boyds Rimfire Hunter on my Marlin XT22, and it's a great stock as well...

Can you tell me more about the studs, where you got them, which ones they are, and what it took to install them?

I used a small pilot drill bit first then used a size smaller than the stud thread. I wanted mine in there properly so I used a resin to keep it in place.... it takes time to cure but a day or two will have it pretty solid depending on the brand.

Put some tape on the drill bit the same depth as the thread of the stud so you know how far to go in.
