How is the recoil pad attatched to the synthetic stock on a Savage 12fv? Can it be removed to paint and re-attatched?

You can also just tape it up with painters tape instead of removing it. I've done a few that way with no trouble of it bleeding over.

Did what ya said and just masked off the buttpad and the Savage emblem.

Thought I would share a couple pictures of my Savage 12FV 22-250 with you. Painted the stock with a Gray Textured paint and a couple coats of flat clear coat for protection. Really happy with how it turned out. The paint has a nice feel to it and seems like it will be durable. I've been able to put 20 rounds thru it and got the scope sighted in. Had a 100yd 5 shot group that was around 1.25" Not bad for the wobbly rest I was shooting from and it was a tad cold. Every good shooter has excuses. :D

Absolutely my favorite stock paint. I have the tan color on one of my rifles (everything but the receiver is painted) and it gets compliments all the time. It's not the most durable though. After sitting in the gun safe for a few weeks, a section of it stayed in the gun safe. Now I just lean it against the side with only the tip of the barrel touching. The nice thing is that it will be easy to touch up and you'd never know.

You can use the Krylon Fusion camo paints too. The paint needs to cure for about 4 days to really harden, then I apply the matt Krylon clear coat.
