If you leave them bone stock, then yes, they are garbage.

Frank has many axis/edge's that he has reinforced that are now tack drivers.

Do you guys really think Savage made these rifles just for you tinkerers to tear apart? :)

Therm - I have to admire your use of the English language....Hah hah--don't know how old you are--but like the guy in the classic Miller beer ads back in the 70's I am "obliviously a man of extinction." : )

Started the rebuild of the stock today--gonna do the same stuff as the last one--but this time I'm shortening the stock and filling it with a urathane in addition to the aluminum pillars. I will also being doing a new camo pattern--being an artist that part is actually fun. Also, using RC7 in place of marinetex--similar strength at half the price.

Are you talking about the quality Savages like the three 114 Classics in Shooting Times that wouldn't feed reliably?

I've never had a Savage give me a problem, but I stay away from the Axis. I hope Savage holds the quality line since I gave up on Remington after my 2nd bad 700.

boy i do feel bad for you guys. i own an Edge in .223 and an Axis in 22-250 and i couldn't be happier. a young friend has an Edge in 22-250 also and his is great. i've always loved Savage and i hope it isn't just luck that i've got good ones. any way good luck to you guys,by the sound of it you're working through it. basically i think that the axis barrel and action are great and all that's needed is a little quality control putting it all together.

I have no complaints about mine. I do like to make fun of the way they are in their plain jane stock form. But after a little tweaking mine are dead nutz on. The price is right too...

After seeing what you've done, I feel like I just should have gone that route...

Gotta let the paper talk.Yup--I'm sure Frank's a better shooter than me--I'm still new to these things--but you have to admit--my rifles at least LOOK better. : ) (Gucciflage--remember what movie that was in?)
