Savage VLP LH Staggerfeed 22-250 with 4.4 action spacing?

My brother has a mod 12 VLP LH Staggerfeed 22-250 with 4.4 action spacing? What's with that? I thought all staggerfeeds where 4.25? But it's the same as my lrvp. We just organised a pair of stocks and his don't fit:( oh well. Looks like a drill out and pillar job and redrill. It's an aluminium stock so not hard but just a pain! Is this common? Or is his one of the first actions to move to 4.4 but still had staggerfeed?

Oh well I gues it ain't uncommon that a staggerfeed action (mag stuck in the stock not to the action on removal) has a 4.4 spacing. I thought it was 4.25.
