I found a source of trigger spring wire in my area, and wanted to pass on the tip. I frequent a local shop that deals in archery and fishing supplies. A week or so ago I noticed the owner making custom spinnerbaits with spring wire, and there were several 3-4" peices he had trimmed off that were destined for the trash. He was more than happy to give them to me since I patronize his shop, so I got em for free. He uses .035 and .040 wire to make his lures, and it works great for trigger wire. Check with your local shop owners. If they make lures you might be able to get some too.

I use pre-made buzz bait wires. By cutting carefully, I get two trigger wires per buzz bait wire. They are usually free too.

I bought a couple of the dollar cheapo buzz baits from Wallyworld to use the same way LHitchcox is talking about. But I save the rubber strands and use them as legs/whiskers/tentacles for flies and poppers that I tie up.
