New savage 10PC

Well I finally got one in .308 an now am needing a scope, rings and base. I'm primarily going to be using it for hunting with shots no longer than around 400 yards. I'm thinking about the Vortex diamondback 4-12 with talley lightweight one piece scope mounts. Can anyone tell me if they have tried this combo and if the talley mounts will hold up in the field? I'm trying to keep weight down so I'm open to suggestions.

I really like the Sightron
I used the Weaver base and rings (tactical) I think.
Works great for me.

The talleys are nice. You should be happy with them and they will hold up just fine.
I had a diamondback 4-12. The glass is good but the eye relief is very short; too short in my opinion.
