Breaking in the barrel this weekend at 100yrds, ok groups 1/2+." Using 18.1 grain to fire form new cases. Haven't bedded action yet just lug area.

Using H322 instead of H4198, it is easy to funnel in the small neck. Recommended by reloading shop.

Do these powders offer similar performance, and should load be the same charge with either powder?

When switching from Hornady 40gr to Sierra 39 grain bullets, powder loads can remain the same?

Will work up loads on fire formed cases.

The 2 you mention are close but both differ from lot to lot. I have had better luck in most rifles with the H322. Here is some data that you may not have.

The barrel now has 100 rounds fired. There is no copper fouling after break in, but a lot of powder fouling. Could that be why it shoots 10 to a small group and then moves poi around to a second small group a bit lower?

I am quitting the sierra bullets and going back to the 40 hornady. They seem more consistant with h322 in this barrel.

appleseed, I have had the best luck with 322 pushing it close to max pressure. I get less powder fouling @ higher pressures in my 20 tac.

Might be worth a try to reach the higher accuracy node.

Somthing else I noticed with my 20tac(shilen match barrel), after around 200 rnds it started cleaning easier(copper and pwder fouling) and started shooting better groups.

P.S. The best groups I have gotten were with berger 40gr bullets. Never got the hornadys to shoot under 3/4inch.

Might try some H4198 as well.

My VT shot itty bitty groups with the above powder under 32/40 VMax and 35 gr Bergers as well.

Shot nothing higher than 18.8-19.0 H322 so far with 40 grain hornady. How can I tell what's safe?

Mine loves H4198 and 32 gr. Sierra blitz kings. 18.2 is MAX in mine. Primers made a big difference in mine. Hates fed. or CCI match primers, Rem 7 1/2 cut the groups in half. Good luck.

i think you will find the 29 vt to be not very pickey..
