Hello everyone I am planning on a 6.5x47L build and I was hoping to be able to use Varget because I have several pounds of it that I use for my .223 loads. I would probably be running a 120 or 123 grain projectiles, any feed back is welcome and appreciated.

im sure varget works really well but i have yet to try it. Ive had great success with rl17 and 140 hybrids running around 2800fps. The heavy bullets have worked really well for me in my 28" barrel.

There are a lot of guys running it. I loaded my first rounds up today. After doing a lot of reading I decided on Varget for my first run. RL17 is another popular choice as are a couple others. I'm going to start with 36.5 of Varget and work up from there-at least that's my plan. I have 4 bullets from 123 to 130 to try but for now is getting the barrel broke in and get 50 down the tube in 5 shot groups. Only problem, it's just hot as hades today and the pool is winning out for my attention :)
I've seen several guys state their most accurate groups were with Varget but not burning the speed charts up, isn't that usually the case ;)

Thanks for the reply's everyone good info but I no longer have the rifle, traded it for a 12 F-Class in 6.5x284.

Yeah I had to pony up some cash but I think it was well worth it.

Late to the post but FWIW I us RL-22 for all my 6.5x55 loads with excellent results. I would think this may be worth a Troy with the x47.
