Mama lets you use her oven when she is not at home to see you or you use some other method of curing?
28" looks like max in my (ok her) oven.

I use her oven, right in front of her, after all, I am the man of the house ::)

Actually, it doesn't make much smell at all baking, but you want to spray it outside.

I'm seriously contemplating a .221 fireball build. It's practically the reason I got hooked on wildcats.

How about the 6mm SAUM. Anything different about the case? Which one did you use? Has it been altered anyother way, other than neck dia.? I really like the looks of it. I have a 7mm SAUM shooting 180bergers.

Just necked down with no other mods......Killed a nice (for around here) buck with it this year with a neck shot at 350yrds. DRT...

Just something about the quarter bores.....

As soon as I get my next project done I will be doing a 257 WSM like Ed did. I think it's a VERY good idea for the 25 cal.

257 STW is nice, but you gotta have a 28"+ barrel and a lot more powder to make it work at the "advertised" velocities.

257 WSM isn't too far behind it and it's definitely faster than the 257 Weatherby. Used strictly for hunting and it should last a lifetime............and if not, it's a Savage, just screw on another one. ;)

STW or WSM, either.......or.....maybe both. ;D

Since I didn't get a shot with it this year it will last even longer ;) I do really like the way it shoots and the accubond bullets work perfect with it. I'm still anxious to try the Swift Scirrocos in it and may get around to it some day. I just wish they were heavier.

I must say, That, Is one impressive family photo. Now, that one on the far left, the .204 apache, has seriously got my attention. I've red the article series concerning the build-up of this wildcat, but noticed there was no results printed, unless I just missed it (like that never happens ::)) But I would greatly appreciated more info on that little beauty.

My buddy Outlawkyote was the one doing most of the work on this number. He's the one that wrote the articles you read. He dropped off the board awhile back to keep peace on certain subjects. The project has been completed. It was a screamer. Very accurate and fast.

The main design was to fire the heavy Bergers as fast as possible for coyote hunting (his main passion). It requires a fast twist barrel for the heavy weights. It also does very well with the 39 and 40grn bullets too though.

Easily drives 39 and 40's to 4K+......I was able to get 3800fps with the 50's, I think he was able to get a bit more from it. It works well with slower powders being a overbore cartridge.

Pretty good little cartridge.....would require an experienced wildcatter to use it.

Yeah I fgured that out waaay before I was done readin the article. Still, it WILL be on my list of cartridges to have.....some day ::)

He dropped off the board awhile back to keep peace on certain subjects.....I know how that goes...this is the first time in about a year or so for any board activities for myself. And, She's ALOT happier with me now ;)

Thanks

Good post Okie2, that picture was from the same book I have (some place). You must not be new to reloading either. Some of the post, about it and its speed dont take into consideration this was done 45 years ago, back when 3000fps was vary fast. I would bet its older than some of the posters. I also dont think barrel life was even considered. And the guys that did it, were the top guys in reloading back then, real cutting edge.
Mike.

no I'm not at all I'm 70 now and started reloading back in 1958
