I just bought a Model 10xp predator in 7mm mag. It came as a package and I want to replace the two piece weaver base with something a little higher quality. Besides a piccatinny rail, what are other options that will allow scope adjustment with that huge bolt? Thanks...what a great site!

Weaver also makes a one piece mount that will fit.

for me I like to use Burris or Warne steel 2pc bases, or an EGW 1pc rail if I decide to use a 1 pc base.

For rings I like to use Burris Signature Zee rings on all my guns. Lots of adjustment options with them when using the inserts and the rings will not scratch the scope.

Depending on the scope you will be using you may need the 1pc base to allow the scope to come far enough back to get the correct eye relief since you have a long action.

I think I will give the egw a try. That will be a new style of setup for me. You think I could use low mounts with a 44mm scope?

With the super high EGW base you'll be fine with low rings.
That is my only issue with the EGW rails, they're too darn high.

I dont like the sound of that. I will look at some others. Glad you told me!

Don't get me wrong, the EGW products are really nicely made and machined for a reasonable price.

I couldn't get my 3-9x42 SII Big Sky low enough for my liking with the EGW so I went with the lower Warne Grand Slam steel bases instead.

The EGW rail mount (20MOA) i put on my 111 is a little thick. That being said, you could probably beat a deer to death with it. Very stout piece of gear, very high quality.

Maybe it's your scope that is too small!

Sorry...couldn't resist.

Weaver makes longer rails too:
Weaver's 0MOA is reasonably low: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/973274/weaver-1-piece-multi-slot-tactical-weaver-style-base-for-savage-10-series-short-action-round-rear-matte (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/973274/weaver-1-piece-multi-slot-tactical-weaver-style-base-for-savage-10-series-short-action-round-rear-matte)

I don't know if Weaver's 20 MOA rail is lower than the comparable EGW rail: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/315941/weaver-1-piece-extended-multi-slot-tactical-picatinny-style-20-moa-base-savage-10-series-short-action-matte (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/315941/weaver-1-piece-extended-multi-slot-tactical-picatinny-style-20-moa-base-savage-10-series-short-action-matte)

The Weaver rails are much lower than the EGW's.
