Anyone have any loads that are working well in the 12 LRP .243 with 105gr AMAX or 107 SMK ? Especially with Varget or H4350 since I have 16lbs of each sitting here.

I've seen some loads posted else where with both, but very few specific to the LRP.

I shoot 105 Amax and 105 Bergers in my .243. Although not a LRP it is a Savage action with a Shaw Barrel. My best accuracy load is 37grains of H4350 with the Amax. This load usually shoots in the .3's avg for me and has extremely light recoil. For a little stouter hunting load, I have the 105 bergers loaded up with 39.7 grains of H4350. This load is also very accurate and has shot a .295 group out of my gun. I have not tried the varget.

My savage model 11 with 22" barrel loves 42 grains of H4350 with the 105 Amax. Half inch groups at 100 all day.

What twist are you guys running? Any velocity info?

Thanks!

I run 105 AMAX behind 39.2 grains of H4350 in a 1 in 8 twist CBI barrel at 2970 fps. Groups are well under 1/2 MOA at 200 yards. Still in developement for longer range. Haven't shot it beyond the 200 yards.

Had to edit for update on validated fps.

The heaviest bullet I've tried in mine so far is the 95 VLD,ahead of H4831sc,about an inch @ 200 yds. I'm not sure if the 9.25 twist will work with the heavyweights. Too cheap to spend the money to find out.

Hi JackinSD - I have the same barrel and I am about to start making up some loads for it. What offset to the rifling are you using? I was going to go with the .010-.015 jump to start but I would sure like to know in advance what works. Thanks!

If your barrel ends up working like mine, I went .015 to start and ended right there. I may change it as I get a chance to shoot at longer ranges but that is where I am at right now.
