What is the heaviest bullet you have tried from the 1 in 12
in a 22-250 with good accuracy.....I'm talking like 1 1/2 inch
at 250 yards or better..I want to try mine for f class shoot at
this distance.. Please only info. for 1 in 12....I don;t care about your
9-14 etc twist.. I want to have mine rebarrel next year, but for now
would like to try it...Thanks for all your support...John

I found the Barnes Tac-X 62 gr. with 32.6 gr. of IMR-3031 moving at 3570 fps to be very accurate at 300 and 400 meters.

Interesting---the heaviest I have on hand is 60 grain Sierra....I have no 3031 now...I have heard some say that they get the best with 4046--I have not as of yet had any accuracy with it..I might work with the 60 grainers, but not for me with the 55 grain V Max.....But I keep trying...I need a darn good match load for 250 yards,,,

My 12 twist factory varmint barrel shoots 55gr Vmax at 1/2" at 200 yards using H4350; could not work up a load using widely recommended H380.

Hi my rule of thumb that works for me is very simple, to get a decent grouping a bullet has to be spinning at a minimum of at least 200.000 rpm, to get that number the formula is 720 times MV divided by the Twist of the barrel, to get a heavier bullet to reach that number all depends on how hot you feel you and your chamber can go, this is what I came up with for the 12 twist you need a MIN of 3333 MV, so the heaviest bullet you send down range at that min MV will be your max weight bullet and still get a decent grouping.

Thanks Dean

PS this is for 22 cal

I use 38.5gr H4350 with the 55Vmax .025" off the lands. After 3 loadings the Lee Collet Neck Sizer has done fine; no need to FL size yet.

I use 60 gr Hornady sp's in my 1-14 Swift with no problems, a 1-12 22-250 should work.
