Hey guys. How much wider is the barrel channel on the HS LRPV stock compared to the normal VLP? Anybody running the hs stock with a varmint contour instead of the bull, trying to see if its close or if it would look stupid. Any help is appreciated.

The LRPV Bull Barrel is quite a bit bigger than a Varmint Contour, I would think it would look very, very well free floated.

gmcguy,

The barrel channel width on my VLP stock is just a tad under 1 1/8". I don't have a LRPV stock so I can't measure it. I'd guess it should be 1 1/4" or so.

A varmint contour barrel will leave a good gap between barrel and stock if the channel is 1 1/4" wide. Does it look bad? I'd say it's a personal thing. Some people might be bothered by such a gap whereas others might think it looks good. My 10 FP rifle has a factory varmint contour barrel, and I put a Choate stock on it. The Choate stock has a 1 1/4" barrel channel. Yes there is a pretty good gap between barrel and stock, but I don't think it looks bad at all. Actually I like the way it looks.
