Good day all. I am an accuracy and long distance perfectionist. I currently own 4 Savages in various calibers, several Remmy 700's, and my favorite a Sako TRG22 in .308. I re-load and have gotten some very impressive results with most of my rifles especially the Savages and the Sako. I am looking into the Savage model 12 Palma and would like some opinions, pros and cons etc. I will be shooting out to only 600 yds at this time. I can build a custom for around the cost of the Palma. Should I buy or build. I will be using an upper end Vortex scope if I buy. I appreciate any thoughts in advance. Jim

Sell the Palma barrel and get a CBI in 12 or 11 twist so you will be able to shoot the heavier bullets. 30" recommended to reach out to 1000yds.

?? Well that is one way to do it. Then again my 24" 10-twist FP will happily shoot MOA @ 1,000.... There is also the quite often noted results of the 308 being perfectly happy with a 20" barrel.
Personally wouldn't take the Palma set-up.

What price are you getting quoted for a 12 Palma?
The question that comes to mind for me is why were you looking at the Palma?
Is there something about the stock that especially fits what you want to do with it?
You can get a Target Action from Jim at NSS for $505 and a CBI 30" barrel in 10" twist .308 for $320 figure some shipping and FFL fees and you are around $900 for the parts excluding a stock.
