I got a 93r17, just prior to having a shoulder op[shooting side of coarse]. So it hasn't been shot much yet. I've used the 22wrm a lot in the past. What have those that have used both the 17hmr and 22wmr thought of them? You know, the practical pluses and minuses of the two rounds. I mostly use my rim fires for target shooting for fun. A little bit for squirrel and rabbits. I like the heavy barrel and over all weight of this rifle, also that I could get it in a left hand model. In that area Savage seems to be the top gun company for we southpaws. Also, what ammo have you found the best accuracy with in the 17hmr? Thanks.

The 17hmrs can be very accurate, and flat shooting. Each gun is different and you will just have to play with ammo to find what it likes best. I found federal v max worked best in the one I owned.

I have a 93/17 hmr and like it.

I also have a Marlin 882 SSV and it wears a Rifle basix trigger. I like it too!! (.22 mag)

If I had to chose just one of these rimfires .... I 'd have to go with the .22 mag.

But what I bought the .17 for was for a close into farm buildings etc. and NO RICHOCETS ...... and it serves that purpose WELL! And it also drops less and burns smaller varmints convincingly.

My .22 mag rifle has it's perferences ........ and so do the .17's ......

........... I always find the PURSUIT of accuracy to be almost as much fun as using that knowledge!
