What scope bases for a Savage Axis?

I have some no - name bases on one of my '06's, Kwik - Site on a .243 I'm completing & Weavers on my Edge, .270 & my other '06 and ya know what? I can't tell the difference between them. It wouldn't surprise me at all if I found out most scope bases were made by one or two different companies & the seller (ie Weaver) put their name on it & packaged it. The all look very much the same.

I think making sure they're fitted properly to the back of the action & possibly even bedded to insure good contact would be more important than brand.

Unless you're going for one of those hi - dollar rail thingies that I see some guys using.

But, that's just my $0.02 for what it's worth nowadays.
