I have a stevens 200 in 25-06. I know this is a long action and i was wondering if anyone could tell me how much money im looking at if i wanted to switch caliber down to a 22-250, 223, etc? Never done any caliber changes or anything before. From everything i have heard savages are relatively easy to switch out. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all

The 25-06 uses a .473 bolt head. You could switch from the 25-06 to any calibers in the 308/30-06 family by switching the barrel. To do this, you would need an action vise, barrel nut wrench, go/no-go gauges, and the barrel.

If you wanted to switch to a 223 you would need a .373 bolt head. You can find these parts on Midawayusa.com

The 22/250 is simple you would need a barrel, and the tool needed to change the parts over, as noted the 25/06 uses a .473 bolt head and so does the 22/250. If you want a single shot that is easy, but it takes a bit of work to get a 22/250 to feed out of a long action magazine box. Now the 223 is a diferent story you have a long action so you either need to find an old long action 223 bolt head (Like finding a neadle in a haystack.) or buy a conversion kit from Sharp shooters supply to use a short action bolt head. If you try to use a short action bolt head, (without the SSS kit) you will place your self into a dangerous situation. All curent production 223 bolt heads are for short actions.
