I beleive the RUMs were chambered in the long small ring, but the current 338Lapua actions are long-Large ring

Did savage ever make these for a ultra mag or anything else?

Yes, most all of the RUM's were large shank and obvously long action. Very few were small shank.

As stated, the Lapua action is also a long action large shank. Pretty much a long precision action.
