Hi everyone. I finally bought myself a minty 1946 model 99 in 300 Savage, and I was wondering if you could share some of your pet handloads with me. I plan to shoot this rifle at the range, with a 200 yard max range and also to be my main dear rifle. So, how about teaching me something ??

I have a 300 Savage bolt action that I have been playing with. Have had good results with H4895 and 150gr Remington Core-locts. It's a hunting rifle so I haven't tried any match bullets. I did acquire a box of 130gr Hornadys that want to try out.

I have two old lever action model 99,s in 300 savage. My and i used h4895 and imr 4064 powders with either 150gr. or 165gr round nose or spiter bullets. At 100yds. dad could cover three shots with a dime off the bench.

No. This is a new gun and caliber for me.

Check your cases after you resize them for length, and in the chamber before you prime them. Sometimes the shoulder on the case needs pushed back. I learned the hard way and loaded up a box and the action wouldnt close. Also check loaded rounds for oal that they eject freely out of magazine.
