What is the difference between the 4.4" spaced three scew Target action and the dual port actions?

The dual port action moved the rear bolt forward eliminating the half pillar normally associated with Savage actions. The also use a different trigger guard from a model 40. The dual port action still has the rear action screw hole drilled but it would need taped to work. If you taped the whole then it would use the same spacing as a standard target action. I personally like the spacing better on the dual port. Read the article I did on the 12 benchrest on this site it may better explain this.

Don't forget that the most forward Action Screw is moved slightly to the rear as well. This placement allows Savage to tap this receiver in the thickest portion of the receiver as compared to the normal front action screw placement on regular target actions.
