Has anyone used the ptg replacement bolt heads? I was just wondering if they were worth the extra money.

i just found them browsing the internet. came here to ask about them and this thread was up!
im liking the idea. they look good, the firing pin hole should have a tighter tolerance. im thinking my 6br needs one!

my next build will get one and the bolt body.

I still haven't seen anything that says PTG fixed the biggest problem with the factory bolt heads.
Is the I.D. of the rim smaller to better fit/hold brass or is it still way oversized like they are from the factory?
This slop is what causes most people's extraction and ejection issues.

Example: a factory .223 bolt head (0.378") usually measures around 0.390" I.D. while most brass measures around 0.373".

true, that would be nice if they tightened that slop up a bit. i will call sometime today and order mine for my 6br, maybe they will give me some dims on a few of them..

my 308 bolt head right now measures .490, my brass measures .465 so hopefully they saw that and made them tighter.

i called.
they are still 4 weeks out before ready to ship.
the standard 308 bolt inside dims on theirs measures .473-.478, so they are tighter than my .490 savage bolt.

A few weeks ago there was a post that explained what specs they were using and the tolerances they were working too. Believe me, have no fears, these will be a superior product according to what I read about thier tolerances.
